Mary Kay Letourneau
Mary Kay Letourneau, the infamous Washington schoolteacher, has died at age 58 after a battle with colon cancer. 34 year old Mary first burst onto tabloid headlines in 1996 when her scandalous sexual affair with a young 13-year-old student came to light. She was married with four children of her own. She pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree child rape of Vili Fualaau and was sentenced to 7 years in prison and gave birth to their first son together while waiting for her sentence. After a plea deal, she only had to serve 6 months on the ground that she stay away from young Vili though she did not and was caught with young Vili again and became pregnant by him a second time, ultimately having to serve the full 7-year sentence. Vili was 15 by the time he became a father of 2.
After her release, Mary and Vili continued their relationship and even happily married in 2005 although Vili filed for divorce in 2017 and withdrew his filing shortly thereafter. The family went through many struggles due to the popularity of their case and yet Vili and his daughters seemed to come to terms with their situation and formed incredible independent personalities.
Mary Kay passed with her family by her side including Vili who was taking care of her.
